The Smart Shipping and Navigation Conference 2024.

ABOUT

April 10-11, 2024

This conference arranged by the University of South-Eastern Norway will host presentations and discussions on the latest research in big data and AI applications in maritime contexts including marine engineering, navigation, maritime education, and shipping and logistics.

The conference aims to bring together researchers, academics, industry professionals and students to share their knowledge and expertise in the field of maritime technology. Through presentations, workshops and discussions, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the latest trends and innovations in big data and AI applications in the maritime industry.

Jan Emblemsvåg has been professor at NTNU since 2020, but before that he has had many top management positions in the industry since 2004. The last three were SVP and Shipyard Director/SVP of Innovation and Process Improvements in Vard, SVP Ship Design & Systems in Rolls-Royce Marine and General Manager at Midsund Bruk.

Svein Olav Halstensen is project manager for development of the ground braking RIMARC next minutes Ocean Wave prediction system at NORCE Norwegian Research Center starting 8 years ago. Before that he has been working more than 25 years in the maritime industry with multidiscipline research projects both within propulsion, ship design, machinery systems and automation.

Thomas Brekke is Associate Professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway. He has a PhD in Enterprise Development and Work Life Research from the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management NTNU. His research interests includes organizational change and innovation, knowledge management and knowledge transfer, business model innovation and industrial ecosystem evolution, among others.

ABOUT THE VENUE:

The conference will be held at the University of South-Eastern Norway campus in Vestfold, which is known for its beautiful coastal scenery and maritime heritage.

 

The nearby airports are Sandefjord Torp and Oslo Gardermoen, both has good public transport connection to Horten and Tønsberg cities.
